Horse Lease Description

Leasing a horse is a great way to see if you or your family would like to possibly purchase a horse in the future.

What are the benefits to leasing a horse? The rider has the opportunity to consistently ride the same horse in each lesson. The horse's training program is custom tailored to the rider of the horse. Since the horse is specifically being trained for the lease, the rider will be taught more advanced riding skills. Also, by full leasing or purchasing a horse, the rider can start to compete at horse shows off the property. All of these benefits lead to one of the most important advantages, which is learning and advancing at a more rapid yet consistent pace. This is so because the head trainer specifically designs a lesson and training program tailored for each individual rider. Of course, there are other gains that are not so obvious, but are very important to parents especially…the riders accumulate important "life" skills, such as responsibility, dedication, self discipline, respect for animals…the list is endless…

What is involved in a Lease? Leasing a horse is just like owning a horse, of course, without putting out the money to purchase the horse. Just like leasing a car, there is a monthly lease fee which depends on the horse (some owners charge this by the year-for in barn customers, we normally charge by the month, depending on the horse). Also, like leasing a car, there is the maintenance… which includes, but is not limited to, all board, all farrier expenses or shoes, and all the veterinary care in this case. There is also the insurance and supplies (saddle, bridle, etc). For a horse you lease directly from Palermo, we will provide the major supplies for one month, after that the lessee is to purchase all the supplies needed for the lease horse (see the Handbook-List of Things to Get). On a different note, attending shows will incur charges from both Palermo and the actual horse show. The costs of a lease may sound prohibitive; however, we would be happy to break it down for you.

If you would like to discuss the possibility, with no obligation, of leasing or purchasing a fine teaching horse or pony, please make an appointment to meet with Osvaldo as soon as possible.
